Dressing like an Emmy.
Lea Michele attends Fox's "Glee" Academy event held at The Music Box Theatre in Hollywood wearing a Reem Acra dress and
Casadei shoes.
You know what? She is wearing the hell out of that thing. It looks way better on her than on the model. It can pretty easily come off matronly but on Lea it's got a breezy, Halston-y disco fabulousness to it and she manages to makes it look modern to boot. It helps that she's got that whole young! and fresh! thing going on. Hair and makeup look great, perfectly fresh! and understated. Call it the "Kate Winslet Maneuver." Not that Kate invented the move, but it's what happens when an actress is up for a big attention-getting award and suddenly turns out in an array of respectable, but nonetheless very thought out and styled ensembles. No fuckups on the red carpet during awards season, darlings. Not for smart, ambitious girls who won't be satisfied with "nominee" after their name when this is all over. Polished and image-conscious from now until they crack open that envelope. You'll see.
But honey, a little advice from your pretend gay uncles: Everyone's looking at you and you know it. And you want that Emmy like a newborn baby wants a nipple so you're dressing the part. Brava, sweetie. But you're rich now and you know the stakes, so it's time to say "No, thank you" to the sample shoes if they're not in your size. Go take your American Express and spend an afternoon getting fitted in Saks' shoe department. They'll set you up with some good basics. You can take your gay, but we're telling you now, there' won't be any shortage of gays there, falling all over you.
IN on the rest of it, though. Well done.
