The ripping continues at a ripping pace.We're not sure what the judges thought, but Andy and Michael rated fairly high on our imaginary red scorecards.
Andy seems like a really sweet guy...
But there is not one thing about this look that isn't a cliche, both from a cultural appropriation standpoint as well as a fashion one.
That hat. The chopsticks. Come on now.
On the other hand, we felt like this look deserved more praise. For one, it's a completely realized look. Maybe he pulled something out of his bag of tricks and fell back on something he made before, but what would YOU do if you had 5 hours to make a garment out of a stranger's skirt?
And speaking of the time limitations, he deserves praise for pulling together such a relatively well executed look in such a short period of time.
But man, do we hate those pants.
And we're not super-fond of the back.
Still, it was a complete, fully realized look with no earth-shattering technical issues. He's one to watch.Tim Gunn's Workroom:

Michael got his share of passive digs in at Peach's expense, which gives us hope on the bitchy queen front. We were wondering how someone who is primarily a knitwear designer would fare on Project Runway.
Well, now we know. It's not bad.
He was working from what looked like a black dress of McKell's that had some beading on it. As far as we can tell, he used all-new fabric to make this dress and re-appropriated the beading.
He probably worked McKell's fabric in the sash and the trim.
It's not that we LOVE it or anything. We have a special distaste for styles that read too Southwestern. But it is a pretty good redesign, all things considered.
And it's got a laid-back chicness to it that appeals.
And while we respect the beading, we're not all that crazy about that collar. The way the back drapes, on the other hand, that we love.Again, just enough interest there to make him watchable. We'll see.
